The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood is bringing big guests to their Stephen King film series. From Thursday, August 24th to Sunday, August 27th the world famous theater will feature a total of 10 films adapted from stories by the master of horror. THURSDAY AUGUST 24TH at 7:30 PM – CHRISTINE / MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE
Lethal Wheels Double Feature! Homicidal autos star in this Stephen King double feature. In John Carpenter’s CHRISTINE, its a 1958 Plymouth possessed by evil. In MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE – King’s sole credit as a director – big rigs and bulldozers menace a group of survivors led by Emilio Estevez (to music by hard-rock greats AC/DC). Discussion between films with CHRISTINE actors Malcolm Danare, William Ostrander, Alexandra Paul, and composer Alan Howarth. Also, as an added bonus, the original Christine car will be on display in the courtyard.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 25TH at 7:30 PM – CREEPSHOW / CAT’S EYE / CREEPSHOW 2
Stephen King Horror Anthology Triple Feature! George Romero’s CREEPSHOW stars Hal Holbrook, E.G. Marshall, Ted Danson, Leslie Nielsen, Ed Harris, Fritz Weaver and King himself. In CAT’S EYE, Drew Barrymore, James Woods, Alan King and Robert Hays star in three stories connected by a stray cat that wanders through each tale. CREEPSHOW 2 includes three more tales of terror. Discussion following CAT’S EYE with director Lewis Teague.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 26TH at 7:30 PM – CUJO / PET SEMATARY / GRAVEYARD SHIFT
Stephen King Triple Feature! In CUJO a young boy’s Saint Bernard contracts rabies and becomes a creature of lethal terror in a rural American town. In PET SEMATARY devoted family man Louis Creed resurrects his son with terrifying side effects. In GRAVEYARD SHIFT, textile mill workers battle an infestation of rats and flying creatures. Discussion following CUJO with director Lewis Teague, actress Dee Wallace and composer Charles Bernstein. Discussion following PET SEMATARY with actors Denise Crosby, Brad Greenquist and Miko Hughes.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 27TH at 7:30 PM – MISERY / THE DARK HALF
Authors in peril are the focus of this Stephen King double feature. In MISERY, novelist James Caan has a car accident and is rescued by nurse Kathy Bates – who is also an obsessed fan. Timothy Hutton plays a dual role in George A. Romero’s THE DARK HALF, as a writer and his malevolent alter ego. Introduction of THE DARK HALF by actor John Ponzio.
All films will be shown in 35 mm, with the exception of CHRISTINE and PET SEMATARY (DCP) and CREEPSHOW 2 (Blu-Ray).
